IBM Planning Analytics for Excel is the ultimate utility to allow finance and business analysts work and interact with data. Unlike standalone XLS, IBM PAX offers an effective way to work and collaborate in a controlled environment. Individual process contributors can collaborate on a single model with data being written to the underlying IBM PA database in real time and is immediately available for consumption. The IBM PAX offers a full feature Excel add-on that maintains all core capabilities of Excel for the analyst convenience.

IBM PAX provides four different types of reports to facilitate different requirements for the system:
